In the fourth quarter of 2022, the top five social apps on the Android platform in Kenya showcased varying trends in downloads, revenue, and active users, according to data from Sensor Tower.
TikTok saw a notable increase in weekly revenue, starting at approximately $6.0K and peaking at around $7.2K in the final week of December. Weekly downloads fluctuated, beginning with 76K in late September, dropping to 47K by late October, and then surging to over 110K by the end of December. Active users showed a steady rise from 1.22M to 1.34M throughout the quarter.
Tango - Live Stream, Video Chat experienced a modest increase in weekly revenue, starting at $459 and peaking at $723. Downloads peaked at 1.7K in late October before stabilizing around 500 in December. Active users had a slight fluctuation, peaking at 14K in late October and stabilizing around 12K by the end of December.
Bigo Live - Live Streaming App showed a mixed trend in weekly revenue, starting at $208, peaking at $569 in late October, and then settling around $224 by the end of December. Downloads remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 3K and 3.8K. Active users saw a minor increase, starting at 15.5K and ending the quarter at 16.3K.
Poppo Live had a declining revenue trend, starting at $355 and dropping to $73 by the end of December. Downloads peaked at 2K in early October but fell to around 600 by the end of December. Active users fluctuated, peaking at 2.8K in late November before ending the quarter at 2.1K.
LivU - Live Video Chat had a stable revenue trend, starting at $127 and peaking at $290 in late October before stabilizing around $108. Downloads were modest, peaking at 217 in early December. Active users saw a slight increase, starting at 628 and peaking at 785 in early December before settling at 537 by the end of the quarter.
