As the year 2023 came to a close, the beauty retail app sector witnessed a range of user engagement across the United States. According to data from Sensor Tower, the following is a snapshot of the performance of the top five beauty retail applications on a unified platform.

Sephora US: Makeup & Skincare experienced fluctuating download numbers, starting with around 152K in late September and peaking at 275K in late November. The weekly active users followed a similar trend, initially at over 1M and eventually rising to nearly 1.28M by the year's end.

The Ulta Beauty: Makeup & Skincare app also saw variability in its download figures, with a notable spike to 225K during the holiday season. Weekly active users for Ulta Beauty remained relatively steady, starting at 980K and reaching just over 1.18M by the last week of December.

Flip.shop had a steady start with downloads at around 24K but saw a significant increase to 128K in early October. The app's weekly active users saw a peak of over 71K in the same period, though it experienced a decline towards the end of the quarter, finishing at around 63K.

OnSkin - AI Product Scanner showed an impressive growth in downloads from about 5K in late September to over 73K by Christmas. Revenue for OnSkin began to register in late November, starting at approximately $2K and increasing to over $18K by the end of December. The app's active users mirrored this upward trend, starting at 35K and more than tripling to 127K.

Lastly, IPSY: Personalized Beauty maintained a relatively stable number of downloads throughout the quarter, peaking at 13K in late December. Weekly active users saw a slight decline from 221K to 185K but rebounded to 221K in the final week.
