In Q1 2024, Ecuador's top communication apps exhibited varying trends in downloads, revenue, and active users. Here’s a closer look at their performance based on data from Sensor Tower.
WhatsApp Messenger maintained a strong presence with weekly downloads peaking at around 72K in early January before stabilizing around 53K-66K for the rest of the quarter. Revenue saw fluctuations, reaching up to $27 in mid-January and $22 in the final week of March. Active users consistently hovered around 8.7M, with a slight increase to 8.7M by the end of March.
Telegram experienced notable revenue growth, starting at $898 in the first week and peaking at $1.2K by late February. Downloads spiked to 83K in early January but settled between 40K-50K in subsequent weeks. Active users showed a peak of 857K in early January, with minor fluctuations throughout the quarter, ending at 800K.
Messenger had a steady download rate, starting at 44K in early January and peaking at 59K in the last week of March. Revenue saw a decline mid-quarter but picked up to $21 in mid-March. Active users remained relatively stable, starting at 1.3M and maintaining around that figure throughout the quarter.
WhatsApp Business showed consistent download numbers, averaging around 30K weekly. Active users started at 849K and increased to 873K by the end of March, reflecting steady growth and engagement.
Snapchat had a dynamic quarter with weekly revenue peaking at $243 in mid-March. Downloads fluctuated, starting at 39K in early January and stabilizing around 25K-30K. Active users showed a slight decline early in the quarter but rebounded to 2.9M by the end of March.
