In the first quarter of 2024, Brazil's consumer finance apps demonstrated diverse engagement levels on the unified platform. Here's how they fared:
Nubank - Conta e Cartão saw its downloads fluctuate, peaking at 1.2M in the second week of January and tapering off to 776K by the end of March. Weekly active users started strong at 50M, with a peak at 54M mid-February, before slightly declining to 52M by the quarter's end.
For PicPay: Conta, Cartão e Pix, downloads began at 426K and experienced a mid-quarter rise, reaching 470K in March, but dipped to 423K by the quarter's close. Weekly active users showed more consistency, starting at 12.6M and experiencing a peak at 13.4M during the first week of March, ending the quarter at 12.6M.
Mercado Pago: cuenta digital maintained a steady download rate, with a notable increase to 331K in the third week of February, and concluded the quarter at 294K. The app's weekly active users showed an upward trend, from 10.2M at the beginning of January to 11.3M in early March, before a slight drop to 10.2M.
CAIXA downloads saw a dip mid-quarter but recovered to end at 401K, the highest for the quarter. Weekly active users fluctuated, with a low of 11.4M in late January, reaching a peak of 12.4M in early March, and closing at 11.5M.
Lastly, Banco Santander Brasil experienced a gradual decrease in downloads from 243K in the second week of January to 209K by the quarter's end. Weekly active users remained relatively stable, starting at 12.7M, peaking at 12.8M in mid-January, and slightly decreasing to 12.2M by March.
