In the first quarter of 2024, the top 5 wellness apps in the United States demonstrated notable trends in their performance metrics, including weekly downloads, revenue, and active users. Here’s a closer look at how each app performed:
Calm from Calm.com experienced consistent weekly revenue, peaking at approximately $1.2M in the week of January 8. The app saw a strong start in weekly downloads, reaching around 124K in the same week. However, downloads gradually declined towards the end of the quarter, dropping to about 72K in the final week of March. Active users fluctuated throughout the quarter, beginning at 1.6M and ending at roughly 1.4M.
Headspace: Sleep & Meditation from Headspace Inc. showed a peak in weekly revenue at around $581K during the week of January 15. Weekly downloads were highest at the start of the quarter with 32.9K in mid-January, and saw a gradual decline to approximately 26.9K by the end of March. Active users started at 652K in the first week of January and slightly decreased to around 556K by the quarter's end.
ShutEye®: Sleep Tracker, Sound from Enerjoy Pte. Ltd. saw a significant increase in weekly revenue, peaking at about $536K in the week of February 5. Weekly downloads reached their highest at approximately 321K in mid-January, but fell to around 179K by the end of March. Active users also followed a similar trend, starting at 408K and ending at 354K.
Hatch Sleep from Hatch Baby, Inc. had a notable spike in weekly revenue, reaching about $693K in the week of January 22. Weekly downloads were highest at the beginning of the quarter with around 44K in the first week of January, and then stabilized at approximately 22K-25K towards the end of the quarter. Active users remained relatively stable, starting at 906K and ending at 946K.
BetterSleep: Relax and Sleep from Ipnos Software Inc. maintained a steady weekly revenue, peaking at about $320K in late January. Weekly downloads were highest at the start of the quarter with around 168K in the first week of January, before gradually decreasing to approximately 138K by the end of March. Active users started at 734K and saw an increase to 759K by the quarter's end.
