In the third quarter of 2024, the top consumer finance applications on the Android platform in Kenya demonstrated varied performance in terms of downloads and active users. This analysis, based on data from Sensor Tower, provides a snapshot of the trends observed for these leading apps.
Equity Mobile maintained a consistent presence with weekly downloads hovering around the 20K mark, peaking at 24.6K in late July. Active users fluctuated slightly, starting at approximately 959K and closing the quarter at 983K, indicating a stable user base.
KCB saw a steady increase in weekly downloads, climbing from 13.5K in early July to a high of 17.5K in early September. The app's active users also showed resilience, beginning the quarter with around 264K and ending with 263K.
The Timiza app experienced a surge in downloads early in the quarter, reaching 25.5K mid-July, before settling to lower levels around 6.1K by the end of September. Active users followed a similar pattern, peaking at 311K in early July and tapering off to 214K by quarter's end.
Ocean plus - save money showed stable weekly download numbers, mostly around the 10K range, with a peak of 11.3K in early September. The app's active user count saw an increment from approximately 70K at the start of the quarter to 84K at the end.
Finally, KCB iBank maintained modest download numbers, averaging around 3.8K weekly. Active user data was not available for this app.
