In the third quarter of 2024, the top finance applications in the United Kingdom demonstrated notable trends in user engagement and downloads on a unified platform, according to Sensor Tower data.
HMRC saw a significant fluctuation in weekly downloads, starting at approximately 264K in early July and tapering to around 62K by the end of September. The app's weekly active users mirrored this trend, beginning at 367K and settling at about 186K.
For Revolut: Spend, Save, Trade, downloads remained relatively stable, ranging between 75K and 93K throughout the quarter. The app maintained a consistent user base, with weekly active users hovering around 1.7M for most of the period.
Monzo - Mobile Banking experienced an increase in downloads towards the end of the quarter, peaking at approximately 102K. Active users also showed a positive trend, rising from nearly 3M to over 3.2M by late September.
Google Wallet demonstrated a steady increase in downloads, particularly in September, reaching a peak of about 104K. The app's active user base expanded from 2.7M to over 3M during the same period.
Lastly, PayPal - Pay, Send, Save maintained a stable download rate, with a slight uptick in late September to 57K. Active user numbers fluctuated slightly, averaging around 1.4M throughout the quarter.
