In the fourth quarter of 2024, several food delivery apps in South Africa showed varied performance trends on the Android platform. Here’s a closer look at the top five apps based on their weekly downloads and active users.
Mr D Takeaway & Groceries experienced a dynamic quarter with downloads starting at around 23K in early October and peaking at approximately 27K by mid-December. The app maintained a strong presence with active users, beginning the quarter with 1.7M and seeing fluctuations, ending at approximately 1.4M.
Uber Eats: Food and Grocery showed a consistent download growth, starting at about 22K and reaching near 26K towards the end of December. Active users began at 1.3M, with a slight decline to just under 1M by the close of the quarter.
Astron Energy recorded modest download numbers, fluctuating between 2.6K and 5K weekly. While it didn’t provide active user data, the download trends suggest a steady interest.
OneCart - Shopping On Demand saw a stable download pattern, ranging from 2.3K to 2.9K weekly. Active users increased from around 28K to over 34K throughout the quarter, indicating a growing user base.
Zulzi experienced varied download numbers, starting at 1.7K and peaking at 4.5K in late October. Despite a decrease towards the end of the quarter, the data reflects periodic spikes in user interest.
