In the first quarter of 2025, the social media landscape on Android in Algeria was dominated by five major applications, each showing distinct trends in downloads, revenue, and active user engagement. Here's a closer look at their performance, based on data from Sensor Tower.
TikTok - Videos, Shop & LIVE from TikTok Pte. Ltd. maintained a strong presence with weekly downloads peaking at 129.5K in mid-January. Revenue displayed fluctuations, reaching a high of approximately $9.2K in late February. Active users remained robust, closing the quarter at around 10.9M.
Instagram saw weekly downloads increase, peaking at over 101.5K at the end of March. Revenue consistently grew throughout the quarter, hitting $1.5K in early March, while active users remained steady, ending with 15.6M.
Facebook from Meta Platforms, Inc. experienced a gradual increase in weekly revenue, peaking at $1.2K in early March. Downloads showed some volatility, reaching 90.9K in mid-January. The app consistently engaged over 21M active users weekly.
Bigo Live - Live Streaming App had weekly downloads of up to 33.1K by the end of the quarter. Revenue showed a downward trend, starting at $1.3K in January and dropping to $155 by March. Active users remained relatively stable, hovering around 360K.
Chamet - Live Video Chat experienced an increase in weekly downloads, concluding the quarter at 3.2K. Revenue varied slightly, ending with $635. Active users increased steadily, reaching 17.8K by March's end.
