In the third quarter of 2025, the top photo and video applications in the United States showed varied performance trends across downloads, revenue, and active user metrics. Here's a closer look at the data from Sensor Tower for these leading apps.
YouTube experienced fluctuations in its weekly revenue, beginning the quarter with approximately $22.7M and peaking at $22.7M again mid-quarter before ending at around $19.9M. Downloads fluctuated, reaching a high of 449K in early July, while weekly active users hovered around 220M, slightly decreasing towards the end of the quarter.
Snapchat saw its weekly revenue rise, starting at $5.1M and closing at $5.8M. Downloads remained steady around 440K, with a peak in late September at 459K. Active users were relatively stable, averaging around 72M throughout the quarter.
CapCut - Video Editor showed a notable increase in revenue, especially mid-quarter, peaking at approximately $4.2M. Downloads remained strong, reaching nearly 1M in several weeks, while active users saw a slight decline from 22.4M to around 20.5M.
Canva: AI Photo & Video Editor demonstrated consistent growth in downloads, peaking at over 533K by the end of September. Revenue also rose steadily, reaching $3M towards the end of the quarter. Active users increased from 9.1M to approximately 10.6M.
Google Photos: Backup & Edit maintained a steady revenue stream, averaging around $1.7M weekly. Downloads varied slightly, with a peak of 232K in late August, while active users saw a gradual decrease from 92.4M to 90.5M.
