India’s Home Services Apps: Pronto Ranks No.1 in Download While Urban Company Maintains MAU Leadership
Pronto, Urban Company, and Snabbit have emerged as India’s leading home services apps, with each platform excelling across downloads, active users, and engagement. Sensor Tower data highlights how competition is expanding beyond app installs and into the broader customer discovery journey.
Pronto Challenges Urban Company’s Lead While Snabbit Excels in Engagement
Outsourcing household tasks through digital platforms is becoming increasingly common in India. While Home Services remains a relatively niche app segment without a dedicated app category, Sensor Tower analysis of apps within the General Lifestyle & Services and General Home & Garden Services categories identified Pronto, Urban Company, and Snabbit as the clear leaders by downloads.
From January - June 2026, Pronto led the category with more than 5 million downloads, followed by the established platform Urban Company and fast-growing newcomer Snabbit. While Pronto and Snabbit have accelerated user acquisition over the past year, Urban Company continues to maintain a commanding lead in MAU, underscoring its position as the category’s most established platform.
Note: This analysis only includes estimated downloads from Google Play and the App Store, excluding pre-downloads, duplicate downloads, and third-party Android marketplaces.
Download trends suggest that competition intensified significantly from late 2025 onward. Entering 2026, all three leading platforms reached record download levels, with Pronto’s downloads growing more than 247x YoY and Urban Company growing 38% despite its larger scale. The trend points to growing demand for app-based household services and increasing competition among leading platforms.
While Urban Company continues to lead nationally in MAU, competition appears more intense in key urban markets. In Delhi-NCR, Pronto’s MAU has steadily increased since late 2025, gradually closing the gap with Urban Company, highlighting how competition is becoming increasingly localized across key markets. This suggests that while Urban Company retains a national scale advantage, Pronto is gaining traction in key local markets, highlighting how leadership can vary across geographics.
User engagement tells a different story. Since October 2025, Snabbit has consistently outperformed both Urban Company and Pronto in average monthly sessions, reaching 14 sessions per user in March. Despite its smaller user base, the platform’s higher session frequency suggests that users are returning to the app more often. This may reflect Snabbit’s focus on everyday household tasks, which naturally lend themselves to more frequent usage than traditional home services, supported by its promise of near-instant service availability.
How Are India’s Leading Home Services Apps Winning Users? Paid Acquisition Fuels Pronto While Urban Company Benefits from Organic Demand
Beyond downloads and engagement, the three leading home services apps also employ distinct acquisition strategies. Pronto relies most heavily on paid channels, with Paid Display accounting for 28% of downloads, while Urban Company benefits from strong brand awareness, deriving 55% of downloads from Organic Search. Snabbit maintains a more balanced mix across paid and organic channels.
Pronto’s acquisition strategy is reinforced by a sharp increase in paid marketing activity. According to Sensor Tower Pathmatics data, its ad spend rose more than 600x year-over-year, driving a 610x surge in impressions—the strongest growth among the three leading home services apps. This surge in visibility coincided with Pronto becoming the category’s most-downloaded app, highlighting the potential role of marketing investment in its growth.
While download channels reveal how users ultimately install these apps, user behavior suggests that competition increasingly extends beyond individual platforms. Sensor Tower data shows that both Pronto and Snabbit rank among the top affinity apps for Urban Company users in 2026 YTD. More than 27% of Urban Company users also used Pronto in May 2026, with user overlap between the two platforms increasing 16% PoP. Overlap between Urban Company and Snabbit users also grew 6.5% during the same period.
This pattern is also reflected in web traffic flows. Sensor Tower Web Insights data shows that users frequently move between leading providers, with both Snabbit and Urban Company appearing among Pronto’s top upstream and downstream traffic sources.
Together, the audience overlap and web traffic flow data suggest that users are actively interacting with multiple providers before making a booking, creating greater competition for visibility and customer acquisition across the category. As challengers such as Pronto continue to gain visibility through paid acquisition, competition is expanding beyond app installs and into the broader online discovery journey.
Competition among India’s leading home services apps continues to intensify. While Urban Company maintains its lead in national MAU, Pronto is rapidly gaining ground through strong user acquisition and growing traction in key urban markets, while Snabbit stands out for its high user engagement. As competition expands across downloads, engagement, acquisition channels, and online discovery, the category is becoming increasingly multidimensional.
