Last week, Paramount Pictures announced that it is developing a feature film based on Ustwo's breakout mobile hit Monument Valley, which has won multiple industry accolades including an Apple Design Award and a BAFTA. Now the game can add another major accomplishment to its trophy case, as Sensor Tower Store Intelligence shows it has grossed an estimated $25 million worldwide across the App Store and Google Play since launching in 2014.

That's nearly 18 times as much as the game's reported budget of $1.4 million. Our data shows that players in the United States have contributed the most to the milestone amount at about 31 percent of the total, followed by China at close to 22 percent. In terms of platforms, an overwhelming majority of the game's earnings have come from iOS at about 81 percent, with Google Play contributing 19 percent of all purchases.

The game's sequel, Monument Valley 2, was released in May 2017 and has grossed nearly $10 million to date.
