The top grossing mobile game in Southeast Asia for December 2022 was Mobile Legends: Bang Bang from Moonton with close to $13.2 million in player spending, an increase of 1.5 percent year over year. 35.8 percent of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang’s revenue in Southeast Asia was from Indonesia, followed by 25.1 percent from Malaysia and 20.8 percent from Philippines. Our estimate doesn’t include revenue from third-party android stores.

Garena Free Fire (including Garena Free Fire MAX) was the second highest earning mobile game in Southeast Asia for December 2022 with close to $7.9 million in user spending. 42.1 percent of Garena Free Fire’s revenue in Southeast Asia was from Thailand, followed by 32.2 percent from Indonesia and 15.7 percent from Malaysia. 

The next top grossing mobile games were Genshin Impact from COGONOSPHERE, Roblox and Honor of Kings from Tencent.

The Southeast Asia mobile games market generated an estimated $218 million from player spending across the App Store and Google Play in December 2022, marking a decrease of approximately 1 percent year over year. The No.1 market for Southeast Asia revenue in December 2022 was Thailand, which generated $49 million, or 22.6 percent of total player spending in Southeast Asia. Indonesia ranked No. 2 for revenue at 17.9 percent, followed by Singapore at 17.8 percent.

PUBG Mobile from Tencent generated over $4 million in Southeast Asia, a rise of 71 percent month over month. It is also the highest month over month increase among the Top 10. The surge in revenue was coincident with the release of RPM Season 18, which introduced two different costume sets, Sanguine Nightmare and Frore Warden, as well as a new companion Arctic Wolf to celebrate the holiday season. In December, Malaysia accounted for 42 percent of PUBG Mobile’s player spending in SEA, followed by Thailand at 20.5 percent and Indonesia ranked third at 12.9 percent.
