The top grossing mobile game worldwide for October 2021 was Honor of Kings from Tencent with $329 million in player spending, which represented 46.2 percent growth from October 2020. Approximately 96.7 percent of Honor of Kings’ revenue was from China, followed by 1.2 percent from Taiwan. The full ranking of the top grossing mobile games for October 2021 is above. PUBG Mobile from Tencent was the second highest earning mobile game worldwide for October 2021 with more than $197 million in gross revenue. About 51 percent of PUBG Mobile’s revenue was from China, where it has been localized as Game For Peace, followed by 11.5 percent from the United States. The next top grossing game was Candy Crush Saga from King, followed by Garena Free Fire from Garena and League of Legends: Wild Rift from Riot Games, and published by its parent company Tencent in China.

The global mobile games market generated $7.5 billion from player spending across the App Store and Google Play in October 2021, marking an increase of 10.5 percent year-over-year.

The No. 1 market for global revenue in October 2021 was the United States, which accumulated $2.1 billion, or 28.3 percent of total player spending worldwide. Japan ranked No. 2 for revenue at approximately 20 percent, followed by China, where Google Play is not available, at 18.7 percent.

League of Legends: Wild Rift entered the worldwide top 10 mobile games by revenue for the first time in October, generating approximately $108 million thanks largely to its launch in China, which accounts for about 93 percent of the title’s total player spending for the month. The game has steadily rolled out worldwide since October 2020, but has found much of its success in Asia–where MOBAs typically generate most of their revenue–with China already ranking as its most lucrative market.

One of the world’s most lucrative mobile titles, Candy Crush Saga, meanwhile, also had a stellar month for player spending in October, with revenue rising by approximately 50 percent year-over-year. The evergreen game has been hosting the All Stars US tournament, a weeks-long event that began on September 23 in which players compete with others on a leaderboard to crush Orange Star Candies by playing regular levels. The final takes place on November 11, 2021. It should be noted that our estimates do not cover ad revenue.
