Top Mobile Games in Southeast Asia for December 2022 by Downloads

FIFA Mobile from Electronic Arts was the most downloaded mobile game in Southeast Asia for December 2022 with nearly 5 million installs. The countries with the most of its installs in Southeast Asia during this period were Indonesia at 75.3 percent of its total downloads, followed by Thailand at 10.4 percent and Malaysia at 9.3 percent. My Hotpot Story from 零下七度 was the second most installed mobile game in Southeast Asia last month, exceeding 4.7 million downloads. The countries with the largest number of My Hotpot Story installs in Southeast Asia were Vietnam at 87.2 percent, followed by Indonesia at 7 percent and Thailand at 2.6 percent.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang from Moonton, Garena Free Fire (including Garena Free Fire MAX) and Football League 2023 from MOBILE SOCCER rounded out the top five most installed mobile games in Southeast Asia for the month.

The Southeast Asia mobile games market generated over 745 million downloads across the App Store and Google Play in December 2022, marking an increase of 1.7 percent year over year. The No. 1 market for Southeast Asia game downloads was Indonesia, which accumulated 298 million installs, or 40 percent of total downloads in this region. Vietnam ranked No. 2 for downloads at 19.5 percent, followed by the Philippines at 18.3 percent.

My Hotpot Story from 零下七度 reached an all-time high for downloads in December 2022, picking up over 4.7 million installs, a rise of 142 percent from November 2022. The title also achieved the highest month over month increase among the Top 10. Vietnam ranked as the title’s No. 1 country for new installs, picking up close to 4.1 million downloads in December. The humorous in-game dialogues encourage Vietnam players to share them on their social platforms, which boosted conversations on gameplay in fan groups and media coverage of the game in Vietnam. It is worth noting that the game has seen success in Thailand with similar strategies. 

Soccer Super Star from Real Freestyle Soccer had its best month ever for downloads during December 2022, picking up close to 2.7  million installs, a rise of 99 percent from November 2022. Riding the World Cup fever, the game introduced daily matches to get exclusive equipment and badges over the course of December as Qatar  World Cup approached the finals.
