The second post in our series of Q3 2019 Data Digest excerpts looks at the top mobile games worldwide last quarter. Fun Race 3D from Good Job Games was the most downloaded mobile game in Q3 2019 with close to 123 million first-time installs. Good Job Games also had the No. 2 game in 2Q19 and the No. 1 game in 1Q19. The full ranking of the top 20 most downloaded mobile games for the quarter is below. The download estimates presented in this chart are from Sensor Tower’s Store Intelligence platform.
The second most downloaded mobile game worldwide in 3Q19 was PUBG Mobile from Tencent with more than 94 million new installs. The third highest performing mobile game was Mario Kart Tour from Nintendo, followed by Aquapark.io from Voodoo and Garena Free Fire from Garena.
Mario Kart Tour was the No. 3 game worldwide in Q3 despite only being available for six days of the quarter. The Nintendo racing game launched on September 25.
Mario Kart Tour, the most downloaded mobile game globally on Apple’s App Store 3Q19, raced to 34 million App Store downloads in just six days, outpacing all other games in the quarter. It was Nintendo’s fastest-ever mobile game launch. The next most downloaded game was Fun Race 3D, followed by Aquapark.io, Jelly Shift from SayGames, and Polysphere from Playgendary.
Belarus-based publisher Say Games had a strong quarter on the App Store, with Jelly Shift (No. 4), Sand Balls (10), Battle Disc (15), and Train Taxi (19) among the top 20 titles in Q3.
Fun Race 3D was the most downloaded app on Google Play worldwide for 3Q19 with more than 97 million installs, followed by PUBG Mobile, Garena Free Fire, Aquapark.io, and Mario Kart Tour.
After slipping slightly last quarter, PUBG Mobile responded with its best quarter on Google Play yet with nearly 80 million installs. This was more than 100 percent growth quarter-over-quarter. Another battle royale title, Garena Free Fire, was in the top three for the fourth straight quarter. It led with nearly 200 million Google Play installs in the first three quarters of 2019.
