Top Non-Game Apps in the U.S. for May 2019 by Downloads

The most downloaded non-game app in the United States for May 2019 was Snapchat with more than four million installs, which represented a 35 percent increase from May 2018. The full top 10 ranking of apps in the U.S. by downloads for May 2019 is above. App download estimates are from Sensor Tower’s Store Intelligence platform.

Snapchat climbed four spots in the overall ranking from No. 5 in April 2019 to No. 1 in last month. This marked the first time Snapchat had become the top non-game app in the U.S. this year. Messenger was the second most installed non-game app in the U.S. last month with more than four million downloads. YOLO, Instagram, and Facebook made up the remainder of the top five most installed non-game apps last month. YOLO, an anonymous Q&A app, launched in early May 2019 and added more than 3.6 million installs in the U.S. during its first month, ranking No. 3 overall and No. 1 on the App Store.
