2026 State of Mobile is Live!

In the fourth quarter of 2025, the communication app landscape in Australia was marked by notable trends across the top five apps: Messenger, WhatsApp Messenger, ALDI Mobile, Snapchat, and Telegram. Data from Sensor Tower provides insights into each app’s weekly downloads, revenue, and active users.
Messenger from Meta Platforms, Inc. saw a gradual increase in weekly revenue, reaching approximately $913 USD in early December. Downloads showed a peak at around 44K in the week of December 8, while active users grew from 10.7M to over 10.9M by the end of the quarter.
WhatsApp Messenger maintained a strong presence with weekly downloads peaking at about 63K in early December. Active users also showed a consistent rise, ending the quarter at roughly 16.1M.
ALDI Mobile experienced a significant initial boost in downloads with a high of 43K in mid-October, followed by a decline to 14K by the end of December. Active users fluctuated, peaking at 243K in late October.
Snapchat from Snap Inc demonstrated a robust revenue stream, peaking at over $507K at the end of December. Weekly downloads increased steadily, reaching a high of 30K in early December. Active users remained strong, with a notable increase to over 4.1M in mid-December.
Telegram exhibited consistent revenue, peaking at about $82K in the week of December 22. Downloads reached their highest at nearly 30K in early December, while active users saw a steady rise, peaking at approximately 2.3M in late November.
