About 95.6 percent of Honor of Kings’ revenue was from China, followed by 2 percent from Taiwan and 1.2 percent from Thailand. PUBG Mobile from Tencent was the second highest earning mobile game worldwide for June 2021 with $213.8 million in gross revenue, which represented 11 percent year-over-year growth from June 2020. About 53.3 percent of PUBG Mobile’s revenue was from China, from its localized release Game for Peace, followed by 11.2 percent from the United States. The next top grossing game was Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds from Netmarble, followed by Roblox from Roblox Corporation and Candy Crush Saga from King.

The top 10 grossing mobile games generated approximately $1.4 billion of combined consumer spending in June, each accumulating more than $100 million individually and representing a record number of titles to cross this milestone in a single month. This comes despite the lifting of COVID-19-related social restrictions in many parts of the world, providing further evidence to the notion that new habits developed during lockdown, such as increased use of mobile devices for entertainment and necessities, are sticking. Overall, the mobile games market amassed $7.3 billion in consumer spend last month across the App Store and Google Play, a rise of about 10 percent Y/Y.
