In the fourth quarter of 2020, the beauty retail app landscape on Android devices in the United Kingdom exhibited some intriguing patterns. Sensor Tower provides a comprehensive look at the performance of the top five beauty retail applications during this period. Here's how these apps fared in terms of downloads and weekly active users.
LOOKFANTASTIC -Beauty Shopping saw a significant surge in downloads, peaking at 18K in early November, followed by a notable decrease to 1.6K in mid-December. Weekly active users reached a high of 82K in the second week of November, with a subsequent drop to 27K in mid-December, before climbing back up to 52K by the year's end.
Superdrug maintained a steady download count, starting at 4K at the end of September and dipping slightly to 3.8K by late December. Their weekly active users showed a gradual increase from 10K to 12K in late November, before a slight decline to 10.7K at the close of the quarter.
Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics began the quarter with a modest 654 downloads but experienced a dramatic spike to nearly 11K downloads in the final week of December. The app's weekly active users echoed this trend, starting at 720 and soaring to 8K in the same period.
BEAUTY BAY observed a consistent growth in downloads from 607 to 946 by the end of December. The app's weekly active users also saw a steady increase from 5.9K to 6.4K throughout the quarter.
Finally, Birchbox downloads remained relatively stable, with a slight uptick from 271 to 284 over the quarter. Weekly active users showed a minor fluctuation, maintaining around 1.6K throughout the period.
