As the year 2020 wrapped up, the food delivery service apps continued to play a significant role in the UK's Android market. According to data from Sensor Tower, let's take a look at how the top five contenders fared in the fourth quarter.
Uber Eats: Food Delivery saw a fluctuating trend in downloads, starting at 48K in the last week of September and peaking at 68K in late November. Weekly active users showed a similar pattern, beginning at 1.6M and reaching a high of 1.9M in the same November week before closing the year at 1.5M.
Deliveroo: Food Delivery UK experienced a steadier climb in both downloads and weekly active users. Downloads started at 35K and saw a rise to 39K by the end of December, while active users increased from 1M to a peak of 1.3M in late November before dipping to 1.2M at year-end.
Just Eat - Food Delivery maintained a consistent download rate, hovering around the 30K mark each week, with a slight uptick to 37K in the final week of December. Weekly active users remained stable, with a slight increase from 727K to 750K over the quarter.
Too Good To Go: End Food Waste saw an initial increase in downloads from 18K to 24K in early November but witnessed a decline to 8K in the week leading to Christmas. Active users peaked at 274K in mid-November before falling to 181K by the close of the year.
Lastly, Foodhub - Online Takeaways showed some variability, with downloads ranging from 11K to 18K throughout the quarter. Weekly active users saw a slight increase from 87K to 95K, indicating a growing user base.
