As the year 2020 came to a close, navigation and maps applications on the Android platform in Australia saw various trends in user engagement and downloads. Sensor Tower's data offers a glimpse into how these apps performed during the fourth quarter.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic maintained steady growth in downloads, starting at around 6K in the last week of September and peaking at nearly 10K by the end of December. Weekly active users, however, showed a slight decline from approximately 83K to 73K over the same period.

Google Earth experienced a modest fluctuation in downloads, with numbers ranging from 4K to 5K. The app's weekly active users dipped from around 21K to 19K, indicating a slight decrease in user retention during the quarter.

For the travel enthusiasts, CamperMate: Au & NZ Road Trip downloads saw a significant increase from 3K to over 8K by the year's end. Active users also surged, starting at under 5K and reaching close to 10K in the final week of December, suggesting a boost in the app’s popularity among road trippers.

The GPS, Maps, Voice Navigation app showed an interesting trend with a mid-quarter spike in downloads, peaking at around 4K, and then stabilizing to just under 3K by December's end. Revenue for the app ranged from $251 to $440 weekly, and weekly active users peaked at around 24K before settling at approximately 21K.

Lastly, Google Maps Go demonstrated a consistent download pattern, with a slight increase peaking at over 3K in early December and then a dip to around 2K. Active user count for this lite version of Google Maps remained fairly stable, hovering between 6K and 7K throughout the quarter.
