The fourth quarter of 2020 saw varying fortunes for pirate-themed games on Android across Europe. Data from Sensor Tower provides insight into the performance of the top five applications in this category.
Pirate Attack by IEC Global Pty Ltd experienced a dip in revenue from $223K in mid-October to $58K by the end of December, while downloads saw a peak of 85K in the last week of November before settling at 70K at the year's end. Weekly active users followed a similar trend with a high of 122K in late November, declining to 98K in the final week of December.
RetroStyle Games UA's Last Pirate: Survival Island showed a revenue increase from $290K in late September to a peak of $828K in the last week of December. Downloads surged from 33K to an impressive 124K in the same period, and weekly active users grew consistently, reaching a high of 273K by the year's end.
TAPCLAP's Pirate Treasures: Jewel & Gems maintained a steady revenue stream, peaking at $43K in the final week of December. Downloads saw a slight increase from 34K to 38K over the quarter, while weekly active users showed resilience, with a slight rise from 540K to 517K.
JOYCITY Corp.'s Pirates of the Caribbean: ToW witnessed its revenue fluctuate, with a high of $160K at the end of November before ending the year at $146K. The game's downloads peaked at 33K in the last week of December, and active users saw a modest increase from 89K to 92K over the quarter.
Lastly, Mutiny: Pirate Survival RPG from Helio Games, despite being a newer entrant with its release in late October, showed promising growth. With no revenue reported in the last week of September, it reached $11K by mid-December, and downloads peaked at 45K in late November. Weekly active users grew from 19K in late October to 40K at the end of November, before settling at 19K by the close of the year.
