As we wrap up the final quarter of 2020, let's take a look at how the top tower defense games fared on the Android platform in Australia. The data, courtesy of Sensor Tower, reveals interesting trends in downloads, revenue, and weekly active users.
Plants vs Zombies™ 2 saw a fluctuating revenue trend, starting at $1.3K in late September and peaking at $3.4K at the end of December. Downloads also showed a slight uptick from 1.5K in early December to over 2K by the year's end, while weekly active users increased from around 12K to over 14K in the same period.
The original Plants vs. Zombies™ experienced more modest revenue figures, with a slight increase from $142 to $154 by the end of Q4. Downloads remained fairly consistent, hovering around 1.8K to 2K throughout the quarter. The game's active users saw a decline from 10K to 9K in the same timeframe.
Ninja Kiwi's Bloons TD Battles showed a significant revenue jump from $277 to $526 from the beginning to the end of Q4. Downloads peaked in mid-December at 1.3K, then slightly decreased to 1.1K. Weekly active users experienced a slight drop from 7.9K to 7.7K.
Kingdom Rush Tower Defense TD by Ironhide Games saw its revenue nearly double from $178 to $237 during the quarter. Its downloads saw an increase from 628 to over 1.1K, and weekly active users grew from 1.9K to 3.6K, indicating a strong end to the year for the game.
Lastly, Bloons TD 6 also from Ninja Kiwi, had a remarkable revenue surge from $3K to $5.3K. Downloads saw growth, particularly in late November with a spike to 1.6K, and active users increased significantly from 3.6K to nearly 6K by the end of December.
