The carpooling and ridesharing app market in Brazil saw varied performance metrics during the fourth quarter of 2020. Here's a snapshot of how the top apps fared in terms of downloads and weekly active users, according to data from Sensor Tower.
Uber - Request a ride, a leading player in the market, experienced a fluctuation in downloads, starting at 386K in the last week of September and peaking at 451K in mid-December before dropping to 342K by the year's end. The app's weekly active users started strong at 12.4M and grew steadily, reaching a high of 14.3M in early December, then declined to 11.8M by the close of the quarter.
inDrive. Save on city rides saw its downloads decrease from 254K at the beginning of the quarter to 118K by the end. Weekly active users, however, showed a more positive trend, increasing from 1.6M to 1.9M over the same period.
The app for Uber - Driver: Drive & Deliver demonstrated growth in downloads, starting at 37.5K and reaching a peak of 142K in the third week of December. The weekly active users saw a peak of 843K in mid-November but ended the year at 738K.
BlaBlaCar: Carpooling and Bus also enjoyed an uptrend in downloads from 47.4K in late September to over 102K in the final week of 2020. The app's active users followed a similar upward trajectory, growing from 701K to 788K during the quarter.
Lastly, Cabify had a mixed quarter, with downloads ranging from 6.9K to 53.2K in mid-December and then falling to 6K by the end of December. The weekly active users for Cabify peaked at 403K in mid-December, but like others, experienced a decline, finishing the quarter at 289K.
