As the year 2020 drew to a close, the io games category continued to captivate mobile gamers in the United States. Sensor Tower's data provides us with a glimpse into how these games fared in the final quarter.
Paper.io 2, published by Voodoo, showed significant growth in revenue, jumping from $500K at the beginning of the quarter to an impressive $2.4M by the end. Downloads followed a similar upward trend, starting at 113K and peaking at 310K in the week of December 21. The weekly active users fluctuated throughout the quarter, with a high point of 639K users in the week of November 23.
slither.io by Lowtech Studios LLC also saw a revenue increase, from $417K to $790K by the quarter's end. Downloads for slither.io ascended from 68K to a remarkable 233K in the last week of December. The game maintained a strong active user base, starting at 1.2M and ending the quarter with 1.44M weekly active users.
Voodoo's Hole.io experienced a steady revenue stream, with a notable rise to $2.7K in the final two weeks of December. Downloads saw an increase from 77K to nearly 195K in the same period, while weekly active users showed growth, ending the quarter at just over 1M.
Kooapps' Snake.io - Fun Online Snake enjoyed a surge in revenue from $732K to $1.4M in the last week of 2020. The game's downloads saw a peak of 159K in early October and concluded the quarter with 140K. Active users demonstrated a steady presence, finishing the year with 460K active users.
Lastly, Crowd City, another Voodoo title, saw its revenue grow from $678K to $1.1M by the end of December. The game's downloads experienced a boost, particularly in the last week, reaching 166K. Crowd City's weekly active users showed an impressive climb, culminating at over 805K.
