Sandbox games continue to engage and entertain mobile users with their open-world creativity and freedom. Sensor Tower provides a detailed look at how these games performed on iOS in the United Kingdom during the first quarter of 2021.
Roblox by Roblox Corporation saw a slight dip in downloads, starting at 89K in the last week of December 2020 and dropping to around 54K by the end of March 2021. Its weekly active users, however, showed a more positive trend, increasing from 1.24M to 1.48M in the same period. Revenue trends were relatively stable, hovering around the 1M mark each week.
MultiCraft ― Build and Mine! did not generate revenue, but its download figures showed a peak of 12K in late January, with a general decline to 9K by the end of March. The game's weekly active users saw a peak of 53K in late January before gradually decreasing to around 49K.
The Sims™ FreePlay from Electronic Arts experienced a revenue fluctuation, with the highest at 70K USD in late December and a low of 46K USD in late March. Downloads peaked at 15K in early February, followed by a decline to around 12K by the end of March. The weekly active users had an upward trend, from 58K at the end of December to 64K by the end of March.
Rec Room: Play with Friends by Rec Room Inc showed modest revenue ranging from 900 USD to 2K USD per week. The downloads reached their highest at 13K in early January, with a general decline to 9K by the end of March. Weekly active users increased from 14K to 18K during the quarter.
Block Craft 3D: Building Games, while not disclosing the publisher country, indicated revenue trends with a peak of 3.7K USD in mid-February and dropping to around 1.5K USD by the end of March. Downloads saw a high of 11K in mid-February, with a decline to 6.3K by the end of March. Active users peaked at 80K in mid-February and decreased to around 66K by the end of March.
