In the first quarter of 2021, the waifu-themed mobile gaming category saw varied performance among its top titles on the iOS platform in the United States. Data provided by Sensor Tower offers a glimpse into the trends of downloads, revenue, and weekly active users for these games.
Starting with Honkai Impact 3rd - Part 2, the title by publisher miHoYo Limited experienced a steady increase in revenue, peaking at $300K in the second week of March. Downloads saw an uptick in the same period, reaching nearly 13K, while weekly active users showcased growth from around 63K to over 75K in early March before a slight decline to 61K by the end of the quarter.
YOSTAR LIMITED's Azur Lane also had its moments of fluctuation, with revenue starting at $243K in late December and dipping to around $47K by the end of March. The game's downloads remained fairly consistent, with approximately 1.5K to 1.8K weekly, and weekly active users hovered around the 32K to 35K range throughout the quarter.
Crunchyroll Games, LLC introduced Princess Connect! Re: Dive in mid-January, which showed strong initial performance with a revenue of $314K in its debut week, followed by a general downward trend to about $29K by the end of March. Downloads spiked to over 50K upon release but then normalized to a few thousand per week.
ILLUSION CONNECT by SuperPrism Technology Co., Limited, saw its revenue fluctuate, with a high of $68K in late December and a low of around $21K by late March. The game's downloads trended downwards, starting at 4.6K and ending the quarter with 1.6K.
Lastly, Idle Angels: Goddess' Warfare from MUJOY PTE. LTD. displayed a varied revenue pattern, peaking at approximately $44K mid-March. The title's downloads saw a significant drop from 3.1K to under 1K by the quarter's end, with weekly active users decreasing from around 5.8K to 3.9K.
