The automotive app category has seen interesting trends in the first quarter of 2021. Data from Sensor Tower provides an in-depth look at the top five auto applications in Europe, analyzing their downloads, revenue, and weekly active users.
Carly — OBD2 car scanner experienced a steady increase in revenue, starting at around $74K in the first week and peaking at around $92K. Downloads saw a peak of nearly 7.6K before a gradual decline to around 5.3K, while weekly active users grew from around 10K to a high of nearly 12K, before ending the quarter at approximately 10.5K.
Carista OBD2 showed a more volatile revenue pattern, with a noteworthy spike to $22K, and downloads peaked at 4.7K in early February. Weekly active users saw a modest increase from 3.5K to 3.9K, eventually dropping to around 3.7K.
For BimmerCode for BMW and MINI, there was a revenue increase from $15K to nearly $20K in the third week of February, followed by stabilization around $17K. Downloads declined from 3.7K to 2.5K, and weekly active users fluctuated, ending the quarter slightly lower at around 3.8K.
OBDeleven VAG Car diagnostics saw revenue fluctuate, reaching a high of approximately $11.5K. Downloads peaked at 5.2K before decreasing to around 3.7K, while weekly active users slightly increased from around 8.7K to 9.1K, and then decreased to around 8.9K.
Lastly, EOBD Facile: OBD 2 Car Scanner showed an upward trajectory in revenue, hitting a peak of $11.6K. Downloads remained robust, peaking at over 12.5K, with a dip towards the end of the quarter. Weekly active users started strong at 37K, peaked at nearly 38K, and closed the quarter at around 36K.
