In the first quarter of 2021, the food and diet tracking category saw varied performance across top applications in the United States. Sensor Tower's data provides a clear view of how these apps have been doing in terms of downloads, revenue, and user engagement.

MyFitnessPal: Calorie Counter by MyFitnessPal, Inc. showed a strong start in January with revenue peaking at nearly $1.45M in the first week of February. Downloads hit a high of 169K in early March, while weekly active users saw a peak of 4.75M in the first week of January, followed by a gradual decline to 4.1M by the end of March.

WeightWatchers: Weight Health by WW International, Inc. experienced its highest revenue of over $800K in late February, with a noticeable dip to around $590K towards the end of March. Downloads started at 79.5K in late December and saw a decrease to 24.4K by the end of March. Weekly active users grew to a high of 522K in early March before falling to 492K by the end of the month.

For Lose It! – Calorie Counter by FitNow, revenue was strongest at the start of January at $571K, tapering off to $303K by the end of March. Downloads peaked at 76.2K in early January and fell to 52.4K by the close of the quarter. Weekly active users remained relatively stable, starting at 1.3M and slightly decreasing to 1.2M.

Wombat Apps LLC's Carb Manager—Keto Diet Tracker showed revenue of $249K in the first week of January, which then declined to $141K by the end of March. Downloads began at 48.5K, with a gradual decrease to 30.9K. The weekly active users showed a slight downtrend from 513K to 420K over the quarter.

Lastly, Fastic: Fasting & Food Tracker by HealthVida GmbH & Co. KG. saw its revenue grow from $120K at the end of December to a peak of $189K in early March, ending the quarter slightly lower at $164K. The app's downloads reached their highest at 146K in the first week of January, with a decrease to 67K by the end of March. Weekly active users increased from 244K to a peak of 333K in early March, before settling at 320K.
