The first quarter of 2021 displayed interesting patterns for the top shopping applications in Australia. Data from Sensor Tower provides a clear view of how these apps fared in terms of downloads and active users.
Shop: All your favorite brands by Shopify Inc. saw its downloads fluctuate, starting at roughly 32K in the last week of December and dipping to around 26K by the end of March. The weekly active users showed a similar trend, with a high of 255K in the first week of January, declining slightly to around 243K by the end of March.
Google Home from Google LLC experienced a drop in downloads from about 59K at the end of December to around 28K by the end of March. The weekly active users count also saw a decrease, with a high of 360K in the last week of December falling to approximately 294K by the end of March.
For Amazon Shopping by AMZN Mobile LLC, downloads started at around 41K and experienced a significant drop to about 19K by the end of March. However, weekly active users saw an increase from 978K in the first week of January to over 1M in the first week of March, before closing the quarter at around 922K.
SHEIN - Shopping Online by ROADGET BUSINESS PTE. LTD. showed a steady downloads count, with a peak at 32K in mid-January and ending the quarter around 23K. Its weekly active users significantly increased from 207K at the end of December to 374K by the end of March.
Lastly, eBay Marketplace: Buy and Sell from eBay Inc. had downloads beginning at nearly 29K, dipping to around 23K by March's end. The weekly active user metric for eBay followed a declining pattern, starting at over 2M in late December and falling to 1.77M by the close of the quarter.
