In the first quarter of 2021, Latin America's shopping app landscape showed significant activity in terms of downloads and weekly active users. Data from Sensor Tower spotlights the performance of the top five shopping applications on the unified platform, including both iOS and Android devices.
Shopee Brasil - Frete Zero maintained a robust download trajectory, starting the quarter with 809K downloads in the last week of December and peaking at 1.62M in the final week of March. Weekly active users also saw a rising trend, from 8.09M in late December to over 10.78M at the end of March.
Mercado Libre: Compras Online began the quarter with 892K downloads and reached just over 1M downloads in the first week of January. However, there was a gradual decrease to 917K by the end of March. Weekly active users remained above 38M throughout the quarter, peaking at 40.54M in mid-January and then slightly decreasing to 39.51M by the quarter's end.
SHEIN - Shopping Online downloads started strong with 900K in the last week of December, surging to 1.07M in the second week of January before a downward trend took it to 757K in early March. The app later rebounded to 1.2M downloads in the last week of March. Weekly active users saw a steady increase from 6.71M to over 10.67M by the end of March.
Wish: Shop and Save saw fluctuating download numbers, from 656K at the end of December, peaking at 894K in mid-January, and then descending to 574K by the end of March. The weekly active users experienced a slight decline from 7.45M to 7.18M over the same period.
Lastly, Amazon Shopping downloads were at 541K at the beginning of the tracking period, reaching a high of 707K in the second week of January, and then leveling off to 451K in mid-February. The app concluded the quarter with 451K downloads in the final week of March. The number of weekly active users remained high, starting at 9.38M and slightly decreasing to 8.84M by the quarter's end.
