In the second quarter of 2021, the performance of the top food delivery services in Kenya varied significantly, with some apps showing a steady increase in downloads and active users, while others displayed more modest growth. Here, we delve into the metrics for Glovo: Food Delivery and More, Jumia Food: Food Delivery, Uber Eats: Food Delivery, Bolt Food: Delivery & Takeaway, and Soko Yetu.
Glovo: Food Delivery and More saw a consistent rise in weekly downloads throughout the quarter, starting at approximately 11K in late March and reaching around 12.3K by the end of June. Weekly active users also exhibited an upward trend, increasing from about 66.7K to nearly 78.7K during the same period.
Jumia Food: Food Delivery experienced fluctuating download numbers, peaking at around 10K in the week of June 7. The active user base remained relatively stable, with a slight increase from approximately 54.1K to 64.9K in mid-June before declining to about 50.8K by the end of the quarter.
Uber Eats: Food Delivery had more modest download numbers, starting at approximately 4.6K in late March and ending at around 2.9K in late June. Despite this, the weekly active users remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 37K and 40.8K throughout the quarter.
Bolt Food: Delivery & Takeaway showed a notable increase in both downloads and active users. Downloads rose from about 4.1K in late March to approximately 4.4K by the end of June. Active users saw significant growth, starting at around 7.9K and reaching approximately 12.2K by the end of the quarter.
Finally, Soko Yetu displayed steady download numbers, starting at around 1.1K and ending at about 1.3K. Weekly active user data for Soko Yetu was not available, but the consistent download numbers suggest a stable user base.
