During the third quarter of 2021, the top five communication apps on the Android platform in Costa Rica showcased varying trends in downloads and active users. Below, we delve into the performance metrics of each app, based on data from Sensor Tower.
WhatsApp Messenger maintained a strong presence with weekly downloads fluctuating between 10.1K and 16.2K. The app's active users saw a slight increase from approximately 2.4M at the beginning of the quarter to around 2.5M by the end of September.
Messenger from Meta Platforms experienced moderate fluctuations in weekly downloads, ranging from 8.8K to 13.2K. Active users for Messenger remained relatively steady, starting at around 407K and ending the quarter at approximately 397K.
Telegram saw its weekly downloads peak at 11.8K in early July, with a low of 8.5K in mid-September. The app's active users hovered around the 217K mark throughout the quarter, with minor fluctuations.
Snapchat observed a slight increase in weekly downloads, peaking at 9.6K in early July. Active users showed a gradual rise from around 530K to approximately 539K by the end of the quarter.
WhatsApp Business had weekly downloads ranging from 4.5K to 5.8K. The app's active users increased steadily from roughly 167K at the start of the quarter to about 180K by the end of September.
