In Q3 2021, the top 5 social apps on a unified platform in the Middle East exhibited notable trends in downloads, revenue, and active users. Here’s an overview based on Sensor Tower data:
TikTok saw a significant increase in weekly revenue, starting at around $2.6M at the beginning of July and peaking at approximately $3.2M by the end of September. Weekly downloads fluctuated between 330K and 400K, with a notable peak of 400K in the mid of September. Active users maintained a strong presence, averaging around 26M throughout the quarter.
Bigo Live - Live Streaming App experienced a steady weekly revenue, ranging from $600K to $830K, with a peak in late August. Downloads showed a gradual decline from 87K at the start of July to approximately 71K by the end of September. The active user base remained relatively stable, hovering around 1M users throughout the quarter.
Likee - Short Video Community demonstrated a consistent rise in weekly revenue, starting at $161K in late June and reaching a high of $368K by the end of September. Weekly downloads remained fairly stable, ranging from 95K to 112K. Active users saw minor fluctuations, maintaining an average of around 2M users.
Tango- Live Stream, Video Chat had a steady revenue stream, starting at $450K and peaking at approximately $478K by the end of September. Downloads varied, with a low of 20K in early July and a high of 32K in mid-September. The number of active users showed a positive trend, rising from 425K to over 500K towards the end of the quarter.
Chamet - Live Video Chat saw a gradual increase in weekly revenue, starting at $100K in late June and reaching around $181K by the end of September. Downloads witnessed a slight decline, starting at 14K in late June and dropping to around 8K by the end of the quarter. Active users remained consistent, averaging around 60K throughout the period.
