During the first quarter of 2022, the top 5 music and audio apps on the Android platform in Nigeria showed varying trends in downloads, revenue, and active users. Here is a detailed look at their performance.
Spotify: Music and Podcasts experienced notable fluctuations in weekly downloads, peaking at around 97K in early March before dropping to 42K by the end of the month. Active users steadily increased from approximately 199K at the start of the quarter to 351K mid-March, before slightly declining to 340K by the end of the quarter.
Audiomack: Music Downloader maintained a consistent download rate, averaging around 58K to 68K weekly. The app's weekly revenue saw a gradual increase, peaking at $1.2K in the final week of March. Active users showed an overall upward trend, starting from 910K at the beginning of the quarter and reaching approximately 1.1M by the end of March.
Boomplay: Music & Live Stream saw steady weekly downloads, fluctuating between 36K and 44K. Revenue experienced a dip in February but recovered to $721 by the end of March. Active users displayed a significant increase, starting at 4.5M at the beginning of the quarter and rising to nearly 5M by the end of March.
Shazam: Find Music & Concerts maintained a stable download rate throughout the quarter, averaging around 27K weekly. Active users showed minor fluctuations, starting at 318K at the beginning of the quarter and ending at approximately 306K by the end of March.
StarMaker: Sing Karaoke Songs had a varied download trend, with a notable peak of 33K in late February before declining to around 13K by the end of March. Revenue showed a gradual increase, peaking at $328 in mid-March. Active users also fluctuated, reaching a high of 51K in late February before settling at around 33K at the end of the quarter.
