In the first quarter of 2022, the top 5 navigation and maps apps on iOS in New Zealand exhibited diverse trends in downloads and active user engagement. Below, we delve into the performance of each app, based on data from Sensor Tower.
Google Maps maintained a strong presence with weekly downloads ranging from approximately 4.1K to 6.6K. The app experienced a slight decline in weekly active users, starting at around 403K and ending the quarter at 375K.
Google Earth saw weekly downloads fluctuate between roughly 1.4K and 2.2K. Active users exhibited a steady trend, hovering around 5.9K at the start and closing the quarter at approximately 5.3K.
CamperMate Australia & NZ had a more varied performance. Weekly downloads started at around 1.7K, declining to about 263 by the end of March. Active users followed a similar trend, beginning at 1.3K and dropping to approximately 429.
Waze Navigation & Live Traffic experienced weekly downloads between 226 and 478. The app's active users remained relatively stable, starting at 13.4K and ending at about 12K.
NZ Topo Maps showed a steady increase in weekly downloads, beginning at 252 and peaking at 401 by late March. Weekly revenue for the app varied, with peaks of around $86 and lows of $25.
