In Q1 2022, the leading carpooling and ridesharing apps in Egypt exhibited diverse trends in downloads and active users, according to Sensor Tower data.
DiDi Rider: Affordable rides saw a significant decrease in weekly downloads, starting from over 1M in the last week of December 2021 and dropping to about 159K by the end of March 2022. However, its weekly active users displayed a steady rise, peaking at approximately 164K in the final week of March.
inDrive. Save on city rides maintained a more stable download rate, with numbers ranging from around 84K to 125K throughout the quarter. Weekly active users for the app started at about 311K and showed a gradual increase, reaching nearly 346K by the end of March.
Uber - Request a ride had a consistent weekly download rate, starting at around 41K at the end of December and ending at nearly 40K by March. The app's weekly active users fluctuated but ultimately increased from approximately 972K to almost 1.15M over the quarter.
DiDi Driver: Drive & Earn Cash experienced a moderate download rate, with numbers ranging from around 12K to 43K. Its weekly active users saw a peak of about 43K in early February before declining to approximately 26K by the end of March.
Careem – rides, food & more had a relatively stable download rate, starting at around 10K and ending at roughly 11K. The app's weekly active users showed a consistent increase, rising from about 347K to nearly 345K by the end of the quarter.
