In the third quarter of 2022, the top navigation and maps applications in the United Kingdom showed varying performance trends across downloads, active users, and revenue. Here’s a detailed look at how these apps fared, based on data from Sensor Tower.
Google Maps saw weekly downloads fluctuating between approximately 71K and 134K. The highest download numbers were recorded in the week of July 4, with around 134K downloads. Active users remained relatively stable, ranging from about 9.6M to 9.9M throughout the quarter.
Waze Navigation & Live Traffic experienced steady weekly downloads, peaking at roughly 59K in mid-August. Active users showed a slight increase, reaching a high of around 3M in the week of August 15, before settling back to approximately 2.8M by the end of September.
what3words: Navigation & Maps had a notable spike in downloads, hitting around 115K in late July. Active users also surged during this period, peaking at approximately 344K. However, both metrics saw a decline towards the end of the quarter, with downloads dropping to roughly 39K and active users stabilizing around 193K.
Google Earth maintained a consistent download rate, averaging between 30K and 41K weekly. Active users saw a slight dip from around 318K in mid-July to approximately 259K by the end of September.
TomTom GO Navigation reported steady weekly revenue, peaking at around $50K in late June. Weekly downloads remained stable, averaging between 10K and 13K, while active users fluctuated slightly, reaching a high of about 36K in late August.
