During the fourth quarter of 2022, the top travel and local apps on the Android platform in the United States demonstrated diverse trends in downloads and active users. Here’s a closer look at the performance of the top five apps in this category.
Booking.com: Hotels & Travel experienced significant fluctuations in weekly downloads. The app peaked at approximately 135K downloads in the week of October 31 and maintained a high of around 121K downloads in the final week of December. Active users showed a similar trend, starting at 1.09M at the end of September, dipping mid-quarter, and then spiking to 1.26M in the last week of December.
Vrbo Vacation Rentals had a steady increase in weekly downloads, culminating in around 123K downloads in the last week of December. The app's active users also saw a positive trend, starting at 1.27M at the end of September and rising to 1.41M by the end of the quarter.
Upside: Cash Back - Gas & Food showed varied download numbers, reaching a peak of approximately 73K in the week of December 12. Active users fluctuated throughout the quarter, starting at 1.11M in late September, dipping to 962K in late December, and then recovering to 1.01M in the final week of the year.
Expedia: Hotels, Flights & Car experienced relatively stable weekly downloads, peaking at approximately 58K in the final week of December. The app's active users increased steadily, beginning at 656K in late September and rising to 728K by the end of December.
Google Earth had consistent download numbers throughout the quarter, with a high of about 51K downloads in the last week of December. Active users saw a slight increase, starting at 447K at the end of September and reaching 463K by the end of the quarter.
