During the first quarter of 2023, the top carpooling and ridesharing apps in Brazil demonstrated varied performance in terms of weekly downloads, active users, and revenue. Here is a closer look at the metrics for the top five apps: Uber - Request a ride, inDrive. Save on city rides, Uber - Driver: Drive & Deliver, BlaBlaCar: Carpooling and Bus, and Mobizap.
Uber - Request a ride saw a consistent decline in weekly downloads, starting from around 381K at the end of December to approximately 258K by the end of March. The app's active user base remained strong, peaking at about 14M in mid-February before settling at around 12.8M by the end of the quarter.
inDrive. Save on city rides experienced fluctuations in weekly downloads, with a high of nearly 160K in mid-February and a low of around 108K by the end of March. Active users showed an overall upward trend, starting from 3.7M at the end of December and reaching approximately 3.5M by the end of the quarter.
Uber - Driver: Drive & Deliver had a notable decrease in weekly downloads, from about 175K in late December to around 93K by the end of March. Active users, however, saw a significant increase, peaking at about 1.4M in mid-March and ending the quarter at around 1.3M.
BlaBlaCar: Carpooling and Bus showed a mixed performance in weekly downloads, starting from approximately 143K in late December and dipping to around 55K by the end of March. Active users saw a peak of about 1.5M in mid-February before declining to around 1.2M by the end of the quarter.
Mobizap, a newer entrant, saw considerable growth. Weekly downloads surged from about 11K in early March to approximately 37K by the end of the month. Active users also increased significantly, starting at around 4.9K in early March and reaching about 74.8K by the end of the quarter.
