In the first quarter of 2023, South America's gaming landscape saw significant activity among the top 5 free-to-play games on a unified platform. Here’s a closer look at their performance:
Free Fire experienced a notable decline in weekly revenue, starting at approximately $729K and dropping to around $365K by the end of March. Weekly downloads also saw a downward trend, beginning with about 1.2M downloads and ending with around 818K. However, weekly active users remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 29.4M and 33.6M.
Roblox showed a consistent revenue stream, with weekly earnings hovering between $432K and $731K. Downloads peaked mid-January with 1.3M, but dipped to approximately 768K by the end of March. Active users remained fairly steady, averaging around 29M to 31M throughout the quarter.
Coin Master had a strong revenue performance, maintaining an average weekly revenue of around $450K to $561K. Download trends were somewhat volatile, starting the quarter with 222K downloads and peaking at 429K in mid-February, before declining to approximately 265K by the end of March. Weekly active users showed a consistent increase from 1.4M to around 1.7M.
Candy Crush Saga maintained a stable revenue stream, with weekly figures ranging from $398K to $435K. Downloads peaked at approximately 690K in early January but saw a decline to around 392K by the end of March. Active users remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 3.9M and 4.3M.
EA SPORTS FC™ Mobile Soccer showed a decrease in weekly revenue from $326K in early January to around $223K by the end of March. Downloads started strong at approximately 1.1M but dropped to around 418K. Active users saw a significant decline from 33M to about 20M over the quarter.
