In the first quarter of 2023, the top social networking apps in Argentina demonstrated diverse performance trends. Here’s a closer look at the weekly downloads, revenue, and active user metrics for WhatsApp Messenger, Facebook, Telegram Messenger, Messenger, and Google Meet.
WhatsApp Messenger experienced a notable increase in weekly downloads, beginning the quarter with around 92K downloads and peaking at approximately 135K in the week of March 6. Revenue remained minimal, with a few peaks, such as $4 in the week of February 20. Active users consistently grew, starting at 20.7M and reaching about 20.9M by the end of March.
Facebook maintained a steady revenue flow throughout the quarter, starting at $9.6K in late December and fluctuating around $2K to $2.8K in subsequent weeks. Downloads saw a gradual increase, beginning at 106K and peaking at 131K in mid-February. Active users showed minor fluctuations, generally hovering around the 20M mark.
Telegram Messenger displayed a robust revenue performance, with significant peaks such as $5.1K in the week of February 20. Weekly downloads varied, starting at 55K and reaching around 75K in early January, with some fluctuations throughout the quarter. Active users saw a steady increase from approximately 1.76M to 1.87M by late March.
Messenger had modest revenue gains, with the highest being $113 in the week of February 27. Downloads were relatively stable, starting at 53K and ending close to 45K by the end of March. Active users showed a downward trend, from around 6.38M at the start to about 5.85M in the last week of March.
Google Meet did not generate revenue during the quarter but saw a consistent increase in downloads, beginning at 4.5K and peaking at 12.4K in mid-March. Active users grew steadily from approximately 454K to around 671K by the end of March.
