During the second quarter of 2023, the performance of the top five Navigation and Maps applications on the iOS platform in Madagascar exhibited diverse trends. Data from Sensor Tower highlights the weekly downloads and active user metrics for Google Maps, Google Earth, MAPS.ME: Offline Maps, GPS Nav, Waze Navigation & Live Traffic, and Speedometer ⊲.
Google Maps maintained a consistent download rate throughout the quarter, averaging around 200 downloads per week, with a peak of 222 in the week of May 29. The app's weekly active users saw a steady increase from approximately 12.4K at the end of March to nearly 13.5K by the end of June.
Google Earth experienced fluctuating download numbers, ranging from a low of 27 to a high of 48 downloads per week. The weekly active users for Google Earth showed a slight decline over the quarter, starting at 329 and ending at 270.
MAPS.ME: Offline Maps, GPS Nav displayed a relatively low but stable download pattern, with a notable increase to 31 downloads in the week of May 15. Active users for MAPS.ME remained fairly constant, hovering around the 100 mark throughout the quarter.
Waze Navigation & Live Traffic showed variability in its download numbers, peaking at 30 in the week of June 19. The app's weekly active users demonstrated growth, rising from 1.16K at the beginning of April to 1.29K by mid-June, before slightly dropping to 1.2K by the end of the quarter.
Finally, Speedometer ⊲ had modest download figures, with a peak of 20 downloads in the week of April 17. However, active user data was only available for the week of May 22, showing 10 active users.
