In the second quarter of 2023, the top communication apps in Latin America experienced dynamic shifts in weekly downloads, revenue, and active users. Here’s a detailed analysis of the performance of the leading apps in the region.
WhatsApp Messenger exhibited robust weekly download numbers, peaking at around 3.1M in early June. However, downloads tapered off towards the end of the month, settling at roughly 2M in the final week of June. Revenue displayed minor fluctuations, averaging around $120 per week. Active users remained relatively stable, hovering around the 295M mark throughout the quarter.
Telegram saw consistent weekly downloads, with figures generally ranging between 1.1M and 1.3M. The app’s revenue showed an upward trend, culminating at approximately $29K in the final week of June. Active users experienced slight growth, ending the quarter with around 29.2M.
Messenger maintained steady download rates, averaging around 1M per week. Revenue was fairly stable, with weekly figures fluctuating between $500 and $700. Active users witnessed a gradual decline, dropping from 88.3M at the end of March to 83.3M by late June.
WhatsApp Business experienced a slight decrease in weekly downloads, starting the quarter at over 1M and ending at approximately 847K. Revenue showed positive growth, reaching about $3K in early June. The app’s active users grew steadily, ending the quarter at 27.9M.
Snapchat had fluctuating weekly downloads, with a peak of 965K in early April and a dip to 780K in mid-June. Revenue saw a significant increase, rising from around $2K at the start of the quarter to $4.6K by the end of June. Active users remained relatively constant, averaging around 81M throughout the period.
