During the second quarter of 2023, the top 5 shopping apps in Kenya showed varied performance in terms of downloads, active users, and revenue. Here’s a detailed look at how each app performed, based on data from Sensor Tower.
Jiji Kenya: Buy & Sell Online from Jiji Group experienced a decline in weekly downloads, starting from 37.8K at the end of March and reaching a low of 13.2K in mid-June before slightly recovering to 19K by the end of June. Weekly active users for the app remained relatively stable, with a slight dip from 203.1K to 180.3K over the quarter.
Alibaba.com - B2B marketplace maintained a consistent performance throughout Q2. Weekly downloads started at 37.3K and saw a decrease to 14.7K in early June, followed by a rebound to 21.1K by the end of the month. Active users remained robust, fluctuating around the half-million mark, with a peak of 506.3K in early May and ending at 504.7K in June.
JUMIA Online Shopping from JUMIA saw a significant variation in downloads, peaking at 35.9K in early May but dropping to 9.9K by mid-June. The app's active users showed a peak at 262.6K in early June before settling at 231.8K towards the end of the quarter.
Kilimall - Affordable Shopping experienced a decline in weekly downloads, starting at 26.4K at the end of March and dropping to 10.3K by mid-June, with a slight recovery to 14.1K by the end of the month. Active users for Kilimall also saw a decrease, from 257.2K in late March to 199.6K by the end of June.
Copia App by Copia Global showed a steady performance in terms of downloads, starting at 18.1K at the end of March and ending at 12.3K by the end of June. The app's active users increased from 87.1K to a peak of 103.6K in mid-June, before slightly dropping to 95.7K by the end of the month.
