Throughout Q3 2023, the top five personal finance budgeting and planning apps in South Africa showed diverse performance trends based on downloads, revenue, and active users. Here’s a closer look at each app's metrics.
FinCal666, developed by Khunrit Suphat, saw a dramatic increase in weekly downloads early in the quarter, reaching a peak of approximately 12K in mid-July. By the end of September, downloads had significantly decreased to around 250.
Splitwise experienced consistent weekly revenue growth, starting from $111 in late June and peaking at $218 in mid-September. Weekly downloads ranged between 640 and 1K, while active users remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 2.8K and 3.4K throughout the quarter.
22seven: Budget, Track & Save, a South African app, generated modest weekly revenue, maintaining figures between $7 and $13. Weekly downloads saw a slight decline from 1.1K to approximately 650 towards the end of September. Active users consistently hovered around 1.5K to 1.8K.
Simfolio - Financial Planner showed varied revenue growth, with a peak of $138 in late August. Weekly downloads peaked at 714 in the same period and then declined to around 350 by the end of September.
Bank Balance Check saw a steady increase in weekly downloads, starting from 311 at the end of June and reaching 679 by the end of September.
