In Q3 2023, the top 5 sandbox games in the United States showed interesting trends in downloads, revenue, and weekly active users. Here’s an overview of their performance based on Sensor Tower data.
Roblox from Roblox Corporation experienced fluctuating yet substantial weekly revenue, peaking at approximately $11.6M in early September. Downloads saw a gradual decline from around 624K at the start of the quarter to about 450K by the end. Weekly active users demonstrated a similar trend, starting at around 29.7M and decreasing to approximately 27.9M.
Melon: Sandbox by Payge Ltd showed a steady increase in revenue, reaching around $3K by the end of September. Downloads also saw an upward trend, growing from approximately 88K to 83K over the quarter. Weekly active users remained relatively stable, averaging around 1.06M.
Block Craft 3D: Building Games from Wildlife Studios had consistent revenue figures, with a slight increase towards the end of the quarter, peaking at around $8.8K. Downloads showed a downward trend, starting at about 75K and ending at 60K. Weekly active users also saw a decrease, from about 517K to 470K.
Minecraft by Mojang reported declining revenue, starting at around $889K and dropping to approximately $665K by the end of the quarter. Downloads varied significantly, peaking at 214K in mid-July before settling around 45K. Weekly active users showed fluctuations, with a notable drop from about 12.3M to 9M.
Rec Room: Play with Friends by Rec Room Inc saw a decrease in revenue from about $34K to $25K. Downloads peaked at approximately 92K in mid-July but declined to around 29K by the end of September. Weekly active users also saw a decline, from around 214K to 178K.
