As the year 2023 wound to a close, the MMORPG landscape on iOS devices in the United States saw varying degrees of user engagement and revenue generation. Sensor Tower's data provides a glimpse into the performance of the top five MMORPG apps during the fourth quarter.
Diablo Immortal, developed by Blizzard Entertainment, Inc., remained a strong performer with weekly revenues peaking at around $680K in mid-December. The game's downloads saw a significant jump during the last week of December, reaching over 12K. Weekly active users saw a slight increase towards the end of the quarter, ending with over 253K active users.
Nexon Company's MapleStory M: Fantasy MMORPG experienced a dip in revenue, starting the quarter with approximately $283K and ending with around $89K. The game's downloads and weekly active users, however, saw a rise towards the end of December, with downloads approaching 2K and active users nearing 4K.
Jagex's Old School RuneScape showed a relatively steady revenue stream, with a slight increase in the holiday season to about $94K. The game's downloads spiked to 6.7K in the third week of November, and active users reached a high of over 40K in the same period.
The newer entry in the series, RuneScape, also by Jagex, saw fluctuating revenue with a notable peak of around $172K in mid-October. The downloads remained consistent with a notable increase to over 3K in the last week of December. Active users showed a slight uptick at the end of the quarter, reaching over 9K.
Lastly, The Legend of Neverland, from Ark Games, saw revenues fluctuate, with the highest point at approximately $112K in the final week of December. The game's downloads showed an upward trend in the same period, reaching over 6K. Active users for The Legend of Neverland increased as the quarter progressed, with a peak of over 44K in the last week.
