In the final quarter of 2023, Threads, an Instagram app observed a dip in downloads from 19K to around 12K before soaring to 64K in early December, eventually settling at 51K by the end of December. Weekly active users followed a similar pattern, decreasing from 217K to 197K, then skyrocketing to 301K, and slightly dropping to 252K.
WhatsApp Messenger experienced a fluctuation in downloads, starting at 30K, dropping to 23K, then peaking at 32K before ending the quarter at 27K. Interestingly, the app generated negligible revenue in the latter part of the quarter, with a peak at $247. Weekly active users maintained a steady growth, remaining around 3.3M throughout the quarter.
For Facebook, downloads saw a decrease from 23K to about 14K in mid-November, then rebounded to 26K by the quarter's end. Revenue for Facebook presented a more stable trend, ranging from $25K to $30K, ending at $26K. The platform's weekly active users hovered around 13.5M, with minor fluctuations.
Messenger, another app from Meta Platforms, Inc., showed a decrease in downloads from 17K to 10K in mid-November, then an increase to 20K in the last week. Revenue for Messenger was minimal, peaking at $30. Weekly active users saw a decline from 11.3M to 10.2M in mid-November, then a recovery to 11.1M by the end of December.
Lastly, Telegram Messenger maintained consistent download numbers, starting at 14K and ending at around 15K, with slight weekly variations. Revenue saw an upward trend, starting at $3K and peaking at $8K before closing the quarter at $7K. Weekly active users for Telegram remained stable, with a slight increase from 357K to 372K over the quarter.
